There Are No Words....

I had a different, equally sarcastic and disturbing blog to post today, until my sister called and asked if I had heard the newest fashion craze for adults this Halloween. I like to think I'm hip, I'm with it, I'm down with the kids....but this I had not heard of. Infact I'm having trouble getting the horriblness out of my mind as you read.....

I figured, before she even told me what it was, that it was going to be really dumb, I would laugh then forget about it. Intsead what she told me was a Bloggers dream come true. Something SO stupid, ignoring it would be going against the code of sarcastic writers everywhere!

Ladies and gentlemen I give you the Halloween craze of 2010 for adults everywhere.....

Sexy Sesame Street!

Do the people who make this crap realize they are sexualizing the last tiny bit of innocence our children have left in this world?

Are they assuming Sesame Street falls on A CORNER!

And when they finished that first Big Bird costume did they all go - "Nothing screams OMG you're so hot like a huge stuffed bird head"?

The ONLY thing I can imagine this being good for is if there is Muppet Fetish group out there - they are seriously in heaven!

I give this a GIGANTIC thumbs down! My brain hurts from trying to understand what this market group was thinking.....where the advil.....

Walking Contradiction! Another Installment of RobstenGossip FAIL!

You all know I have it out for www.RobstenGossip.com for basically being an ass sore on the butt of all humanity. Not to mention one of the worst fan blogs there is for "Robsten". It all stems from their fake contest and fake autograph prize. See other posts about them Here, and Here to get the whole story.

Well, as I have been faithfully keeping my "UNFOLLOW Friday" on Twitter of them, and getting good response from people - I am now out to make sure the masses actually understand that this web site is not only just a flat out rip off of every other website out there, but that the people running it are lame, lying, manipulative idiots who don't cover their tracks very well.

Exibit A: Scarlett-Rose (the web sites creator) claims to work for Summit Entertainment as shown here by the screen shot of their profile off my Tweet Deck: You too can see this by searching them on Twitter @RobstenGossip (click any photo to enlarge & read)
Because of this many Tweeters actually believe they work for them. What most of those sweet, yet gullible people don't understand is that IF they really did work for them, not only would they not be able to post any "inside goss", even if they obtained it because of Non-Disclosure Agreements Summit has employees sign - but they probably wouldn't list them self as "working for Summit to get inside goss" because they would be fired immediately for taking the job for their own personal reasons.

EXIBIT B: If you go to their website, you will plainly see this on their "About Us" Page: They opening admit to copying all their info on their site from other fan sites, and do not actually write anything them self. Again this is a direct screen shot of the page and I do have the whole page screen shot if you need to see it just let me know. (please click photo to enlarge and read)

If they actually worked for Summit to "get the inside goss", (let's just say for a minute that Summit wouldn't fire and sue them for sharing inside info, for the sake of this statement) then why would they need to start a web page where they simply go out to other sites, copy what they wrote and paste it into theirs?

Talk about a contradiction! "Hey we work for Summit but can't come up with our own news!"

And in the the biggest faux pas of all, they don't even credit the sites/sources they take info from on their blogs, even though they "claim to when possible". Funny I barely see them credit anyone, which is a huge copyright no-no and makes them pretty much the scum of blogging.

Everyone knows you never forget to credit the original authors. And if they are taking it from other blogs and mags, obtaining the orginal writers info wouldn't be hard at all since they would be ON THE SITE TO COPY THEIR WORK, shoulnd't be too hard to say where you got it. They simply think this mini disclosure on their page is ok enough to cover their butts, and individual credits are not always needed. Apparently, it must be beneath them to do this, you know since the "Work for Summit"

Robsten Gossip should be shut down and the creator of the site should be ashamed of her lying, and lack of ability to even run a site anyone would want to read. Not to mention she should be sued left and right for plagiarism.

On a last, and funny note: I'm a volunteer for Creation Ent, who recently partnered with Summit for their Twi-Tours, the tours of which I will be helping at in October. Does this then mean I can say I work for Summit? (insert laugh) or even better, I volunteer as a host of a family chat board that is owned by Disney so I guess I work for them as well...hahahaha!
Who would have thought I would be so successful....hahahahah!

RobstenGossip = FAIL!

I'm officially done with RobstenGossip, the site hosting the so-called "compitition" I entered over 2 weeks back.

Not only did I never hear anything from them yesterday about the supposed "re-count" they were doing because of my complaint and that of half a dozen angry voters who knew something was fishy (turns out they BLOCKED me a few minutes after my asking about the count). They didn't even show their face on Twitter tonight, yet had time to update their blog this morning. Strange as I recall they were "doing everything they could to fix the issue" and offered to e-mail me the final counted numbers if it would help me..ummm..no way I would want each individual e-mail vote generated from the chat box they used for voting so I can count myself...like showing me their messed up final count is going to help the situation? How easy is that to fabricate? We need some proof.

To be fair, before telling the world via Twitter about the utter Fail on RobstenGossip's part, I thought of all the possibilities for the bad count. I'm a "benefit of the doubt" kinda girl. But I'm also really hard to lie to and screw over with out me finding out and I could tell that there was something not right with this "contest". Because of that feeling I did a little research last night...

-- The "winner" of the contest has had a Twitter page basically since a just before the contest started, never uses it. She was notified via Twitter that she won, but never said anything back about it - her page is located here: http://twitter.com/kaylanicole and if she had been told she won, where was the happy thank you and blah blah? She just won a freaking autographed magazine with Rpats and Kstews signatures on it...she should be flipping out!

-- On top of the the so called prize they were giving away I found on Ebay as REPLICA, when RobstenGossip claimed it was one of a kind and signed by Rpats and Kstew and they themself obtained it and I quote "was touched by them" according to the description of it on their site. The marker color, and position of the signatures are EXACT to the one the showed on their site as being the prize!

Here's an ebay link to a current auction for the same magazine!
FAKE AUTOGRAPHS ON ENTERTAINMENT MAGAZINE

It's clear this competition was rigged and fake from the start. This is a website that tricked people into thinking there was an awesome prize and then just chose what they wanted anyway to save having to pony up the goods and admit the were liars all along. They were probably trying to get more web page hits to move their site up the list of fan sites....

Oh and best of all, the girl who runs RobstenGossip, says she works for Summit - well if that's the case I can complain directly to them and see how well that goes over. A Summit employees screwing over fans with a bunk contest and fake prize....I bet Summit doesn't want to be associated with someone like this....

So for all my fellow Tweeters out there - this is not Follow Friday, it is offcailly UNFOLLOW Friday of @RobstenGossip for rigging a contest, being liars and ignoring questions and tweets not to mention trying to pass off a fake autograph as a real one.
If you don't tweet contact them via-message and let them know this isn't ok to do to people! www.robstengossip.com

Auntie Bang!

You used to watch Friends, right?

Remember the episode where Ross leaves Ben with Monica and Rachel for the afternoon and Monica tosses him in the air, smacking his head on a rafter? Shortly after he starts saying "Monica Bang" over and over?

Yea. I'm now Auntie Bang.

Now I didn't throw Katia in the air and hit her head on anything, I more plowed her over with my fat ass. Total accident, but she cracked her head on the cement and it wasn't a pretty sound and neither was the screaming that ensued shortly after from my poor beat up niece.

Someone step on my foot, I stepped back and WHAM, Baby Down! For the rest of the afternoon I was being teased she was going to have a flat spot on her head, that she should have to wear a helmet around me, or that she would have brain damage from it...

Sad!

I'm happy to report that she is fine, but that I am now "Auntie Bang" which isn't all that great...lol.

Go Back To School!

Having a high school diploma is apparently not a requirement for being employed by Washington County Government Center. I came to realize this many years ago but it was reconfirmed for me with Ellie's birth certificate verification paper work arrived in the mail the other day.

The paperwork was filled out in the hospital and WCGC sent the info back to me to "yay" or "nay" before they print the final birth certificate. Everything on it looked good until I got to the "Country of Birth" for Alex.

On the paper work I put "UK", which means what class....? The United Kingdom. Very good.

The loser who inputed the info from Ellie's paperwork obviously missed that day of school because what the verification paperwork said was that Alex was born in the Ukraine. Now I understand, Ukraine starts with U and K, however how dense are you to not know that stands for United Kingdom? The proper abbreviation for Ukraine, for those of you wondering is UA.

Shouldn't people who have to input this vital information be at least given some type of key to reference for just such these issues? I'm contemplating printing one off and mailing it back with the corrected information just so they don't have this issue in the future.

Wanted: Physics Degree So That I May Properly Function Cordless Phone

3 months ago I called Uniden about the cordless, two base/ answering machine unit we had received as a wedding gift, after several friends commented that the answering machine part was not working when they called. I had also begun to notice that when in my home, 2 feet from the base the phone would disconnect and tell me I was "Out of Range". Obviously there was an issue with the phone, so I decided to look into it and called up Customer Service.

The woman I spoke to, was helpful and gave me a list of configurations of button pushing, battery removing, clapping, spinning, dancing and yelping to complete in sequence to make the phone magically work again. Basically every short of an Indian Appliance Repair Dance.

None of the things she told me to do worked. Frustrated I just let it go, until today when I called back to get some better answers. The woman I spoke with today could very well be the reason each village still needs and idiot.

I explained the issue I was having, told her that after 3 months things hadn't been fixed. She asked for the model number of the phone, and I, not having been trained by Uniden myself stupidly read the number off the top of the phone "DECT 6.0". This annoyed her and she told me that wasn't the model number but the frequency number. I then asked her where I could find the model number and she sighed an exasperated sigh and instructed me to look on the back of the base.

While pulling it off my wall she asked me where in my home I had my phone base, to which like most Americans I assume, I replied "In my kitchen". Before I could say anything else she told me that was the problem and I had to move my phone base out of the kitchen if I wanted it to work. She even made sure to note that had I read the owners manual when I got the phone I would have clearly seen photographs explaining this.

Dumbfounded I asked why, and she replied in a way I would normally be proud of if she hadn't actually been speaking to me in that tone, she said "Don't you have a refrigerator in your kitchen?" of course I do so I said yes, and she again said the bit about looking at the photos in the manual and that the frequency of the fridge was interfering with the phone. I asked if this was all I had to worry about? Again the bit about the pictures in the manual....argh! and she said "Well don't you have a stove?" and I laughed. Which obviously was not good for her. I said "Yes of course I have a stove, but it's gas so how could that possibly be interfering with my phone?"

Oh come on, like you wouldn't think someone accusing the gas stove of messing with your cordless phone wasn't a total moron. And I was actually really wanting to know the answer to the question...I didn't ace science but common sense tells me that is total bull shit.

Her response: "Well I'm just not even going to get into that with you."

Did this girl forget where she worked....again?

Among the other useless bits of conversation many questions were asked, and not very well answered. Things such as:

Q: "Whats the range that the phone needs to be away from certain things in order to work?"
A: "We don't have that information"

Q: Why did my answering machine work for several months before hand when it was in the kitchen and then just stop?"
A: "You'll have to send the phone in to be looked at for that answer"

Q: "I haven't yet given you the model number, so are you sure that the location of the bas is the issue"
A: "You gave me the model number, DECT 6.0"
Q: "But you just told me that was not the model number and asked me to look on the bottom of my phone?"
A: "No, thats the model number, I never said that"

I called my husband after finishing my conversation with "Debbie Dumbass" from Uniden, laughing as I explained the phone wouldn't work because of the stove. He was interested in these much talked about pictures and looked up the owners manual on the comptuer, here is what he found:

Could someone please tell me where the hell I'm supposed to put my phone then? If I'm not mistaken it's midway through 2009 and many great advances have been made with electronics over that past 20 years. With a list of stupidness like that above, I feel like the phone should have a 40 foot retractable antenna on it and weigh 30lbs because of the battery.

Our house isn't that big, so I guess I'm going to have to move the phone into the middle of the back yard and hope the marching band practicing in the field behind our house doesn't qualify as "a noise source"....

Adding Uniden to the list of products we no longer buy. How are they still in business?

Kids Meal - Yeah Right!

Last time I checked the meals for children at Burger King were called, Kids Meals. Why then, do they gear the toys in them and the commercials for them towards teenagers and adults?

I noticed this a few weeks back when I took Paige to BK and she got a Simpson's toy. When she took the toy out she looked at me with a confused look on her face and was really disappointed. Well, what 5 year old wouldn't be, I certainly don't let her watch The Simpson's. Yes, it's in cartoon form but not something for a kinder gardener.

Then today, I saw a commercial for their so-called "Kids Meals", which now had a Sponge Bob toy being offered, a little more like it. However, the commercial was set to the music of "Baby Got Back", talking about how the King liked square butts and has woman dressed like Sponge Bob, shaking their butts. The commercial concludes with Sir-Mix-A-Lot, the artist who originally did the song, sitting with 2 woman watching this commercial and says "Booty is Boooty"

Now, I'm not a prude. My daughter watches tv, movies and I don't limit her to PBS, she listens to a diverse selection of music from The Jayhawks, to Hannah Montana, The Beatles, Taylor Swift, and so on. This "Kids Meal" thing however is just beyond me, what kid are the trying to reach? I don't think I want to know a 5 year old who knows The Simpson's enough to want their toys and knows who Sir-Mix-A-Lot is.

If their motto is "Have It Your Way" I'd like to have some choices for things that come with my daughters kids meal.

You're A Bad Parent!

I'm the type of mom who doesn't find leaving my child alone, anywhere, is safe these days. If it was legal to low-jack my kids, I probably would. So when people leave their children unattended, especially very young kids, in even what seems the most secure of places it really gets on my nerves. I feel this unneeded desire to watch them even though I wasn't asked to.

This morning at school was one of those cases. Paige is in Pre-K, there are 2 Pre-K classes in the school and the parents must accompany the children to their class and wait with them in the hall until the teacher allows them in. This is because the kids are mostly 3, 4 and 5. This makes 100% total sense to me, and most of the other parents.

There's always one exception though isn't there?

There is an older gentlemen who appears to be the grandparent of 3 of the kids in the other Pre-K class. Everyday, he pulls up in his small, 4 door 1999 Chevy arriving usually just behind me. I have to back up and turn around to park on the one way road. Instead of waiting 3 seconds while I complete the maneuver he squeezes around me on the tiny road to steal the spot I was pulling into. When he's parked he doesn't wait for the kids, or help the out of the car. Lets the run out in the street to the front door. And I'd bet good money that there aren't any booster seats in the back of that car either...no way they would all fit in this tiny, safety outdated car.

Often I reach the school door before he does and the 3 plow over me, and Paige to get in the door. Not one of the kids says thank you, and often he shoves past me to get in before me as well, and of course there are no kind words from him either. I don't mind holding a door, but when the pregnant woman is standing in the cold every morning hold the doors for you and your kids, Thank You just once would be nice.

As if all this wasn't enough me for me to try to adopt the poor kids, today he left them at the school during the waiting period before class. He didn't tell anyone, ask anyone to watch them and as this hall way is set up the door to the outside is right there. There may be a dozen or more parents in that hall way, but all are concerned with their child and getting them in or out of snow clothes and sorting out library books. If someone was to run out - it would go unnoticed.

I thought I was just missing him, that he slipped around a corner or something, until 2 other moms starting talking in disgust about how he could do that! I don't even think he let the kids know he was leaving because the one girl seemed distraught and confused when she didn't see him and he certainly didn't ask one of the other parents to keep an eye on them because soon the whole hall was discussing the issue. He just walked out, not telling anyone or even the little ones he was in charge of.

I guess I put too much faith in the parents of the kids around me when Paige started school. I don't even want to think about what I'm going to encounter as she gets older. Stupidity is everywhere, I guess I better get used to it.

The Preschool Bully

I knew that at some point in time, Paige would face a bully in school. I guess I always assumed it would be another girl, not a boy and certainly not one half a foot shorter then her.

I've mentioned this boy before in my blogs as one of the kids lacking serious manners and social skills in her class, and lucky for us he's diverted his crazy attitude towards Paige. Instead of now just being randomly annoying to many of the kids in class, he focuses on my daughter and waits until the teacher is out of the room at the end of the day when she steps out to give us an update of the days events. Everyday, when the teacher is done it takes Paige 15 minutes to simply walk out of the room. In frustration I usually go in looking to find her, finding that she's getting smacked in the back side with the kids winter boot, backed into a corner looking terrified at how overly hyper he is, or standing helpless while he steals her coat and whips her with it.

It takes me to shoo the kid off of her, then she feels like she's done something wrong for the rest of the day because she got him in trouble, and he goes right back to this behavior.

I'd love for the teacher to do something, but suddenly when the topic comes up all she says is that they are flirting and playing. So finally I went off a little on her, explaining that "playing" requires more the one participant, not a child picking on another. Not to mention when this kid walks into school Paige curls up under my arm and stays away from him. Her only option was to take out the days activities run down for the parents, which now makes me look like the bad guy, and lets the little brat continue on with his terrible behavior all through his school career.

Her fathers and I, are at the point where we are not opposed to her knocking him over, even though I'm not a fan of violence. But for a kid that doesn't have an concept of personal space, manners or obviously doesn't have parents that pay much attention to him (the teacher has mentioned the behavior to them previously) then what other option of defending her self does she has? The school's obviously not interested in protecting her... Instead I told her that when he gets too close or does something that he doesn't like, to get real close to his face and scream NO or GO AWAY! as loud as she possibly could, and then go right over to the teacher and explain what he did. Though knowing this little brat - he'll think it's a game and yell back and no doubt my daughter will be the one in trouble....

Schools wonder why kids act why they do, and why kids who get bullied don't come forward..because teachers don't care to take care of their students and parents don't spend enough time teaching their kids right from wrong. The kicker of all this is IT CATHOLIC SCHOOL - wouldn't you think that they would pay a little bit more attention to the kids? I guess now-a-days the only difference between a private school and public, is that we'll be paying for my daughter to be bullied and ignored...

Who Paid Off My Doctor?

Alex picked up my Rx's from the pharmacy this evening on his way home from work, because he's such a great husband. One of the Rx's, which is supposed to help as I am very prone to post partum depression (PPD), and this medication is an anti-depressant which in treating before PPD sets in will help decrease the severity of it, once the baby is born. Not to mention it will help me reduce my stress level, and I'm sure your all quite shocked to hear, I tend to have a lot of stress on a regular basis...

I hadn't yet taken any of this medication and was carefully looking over the bottle when I came across this:

Yes, you're reading it correctly it says 98 refills before 1/27/10. I should note, in each refill there is 90 pills, that means if I actually filled it that many times I would have 8,820 pills total. I would have to take 24 a day, or one a day roughly for 24 years to use them all.

Even though I am quite sure this is a typo - it's incredibly funny to me, Mrs High Stress herself, that it's on my "coo-coo" medication as I like to call it.

Of course the only other option other then a typo, is that my husband in a desperate attempt to regain his somewhat sane wife has paid off my doctor to keep me highly medicated so he survives this pregnancy....but he wouldn't do that.....would he? (lol!)

(ps - go ahead and call the number on the bottle....it's the pharmacies....not mine!)

Utterly Pathetic Service - a.k.a UPS

You know UPS, the "Ups Man" as we used to call him. I thought UPS stood for United Parcel Service, but after today I have a new name for them!

You see, Today my beautiful and rather expensive crib was delivered. I have been waiting for days, so when I went to let the dog out, this bitterly cold Minnesota morning, I was thrilled to see it had shown up. Thrill turned quickly to horror when I realized it was not in my breezeway like all the other boxes ever delivered to my house have been, and the note on my front door clearly asking all items be left in the breezeway, had been ignored. (Something I had been told by UPS at one time was unneeded because they always do what they can not leave boxes in plain sight or outside in poor weather to avoid theft and damage.)

Where was my crib you ask if it had not been safely placed in the breezeway? Well, it was leaned up against the side of my garage, in a load of snow. You would think that the combination of Fragile stamps, the words Carters and Classic Crib and the fact the box was not water proof all, would have been indicators that leaving it in a snow bank was not a good career move. Not to mention how easy it would have been to steal it from where he left it sitting.

I kind of stood there in shock at first. Why had the box made it within inches of the door to the breezeway but not in it? I had no choice but to haul it in myself. I grabbed one of the plastic yellow straps around it and lugged it into the breezeway then into my kitchen. Then I picked up my phone.

When the local office reached me through a message given at the customer service line of the issue at hand, the woman running the shift said this:

The package was well over the weight limit of what the driver should have been handling, and somehow this package of over sized proportions and weight "slipped by" them in the office and ended up on his truck. (HTF does a 70+ lb box slip by anything!?) It should not have been on his truck, in fact maybe UPS Freight could have done this, but it should not have come through regular UPS at all. The driver delivered it in good faith, though he didn't have to, and did what he could to get the box as far as he could. Her tone indicated she thought I was an idiot for sending the box through UPS in the first place, and I should have known better...hello I was the recipient for crying out loud!

At this point she paused as if I was going to break into a speech thanking him and understanding, Ha! She obviously doesn't know me at all!

I calmly said back to her "I'm sorry, but that excuse seems rather lame to me. I'm 127 pounds and 5 months pregnant and I managed to haul the over 70lb box up the 2 steps into my breezeway, which were inches away from where he left it, so I'm fairly certain that it was doable by a man who carries large items all day long. Not to mention that if he could not get it inside, the car in the driveway indicated that someone was home he could have knocked to let me know of the issue and that my item was sitting in snow. It was clear what was in the box, and that it was fragile and where he left it was irresponsible, and he knew it because of his lack of care to inform us. I intend to put the crib together tonight and if there is any damage I will file a claim and expect you replace it asap. And I also will be contacting Babies R Us, who I believe usees you for all their shipping and explain this to them and how you handle their customers items, because I had no choice in how the box got to me - I simply ordered it online."

Silence on the other end of the phone.

She apologized again and said she would further look into it. I doubt very much she will call me back today - but you better believe that I will be calling her back and contacting her boss as well if there is even a ding in the wood or slight wetness to the wood pieces!

This says "Classic Crib" at the top, with the word Crib, Toddler Bed, and Bed used at least 10 more times in large print!
Now I know this doesn't exactly say "Don't F-ing leave the box in the snow because cribs are made of wood and water and snow are bad for it" but COME ON!

Other Peoples Children

Before I start let me apologize for being gone for so long. I fear that most of what I wanted to say (in a pregnant rage usually) would have gotten me in a little bit of trouble with friends and family for sure! Haha. Not to mention that there's been nothing of major greatness happening around here but sleepless night, gift wrapping and eating....

What I want to say....oh lets face it...complain about....today is simple. And it's something I have been noticing since Paige started Pre-K. I can not handle other peoples kids. Outside the handful of kids I know and am used to in my own family or belong to my friends, who I accept for their great personalities and quirks...other peoples kids annoy the pants off me.

I find myself sitting in awe at some of the the ways these children behave in front of their parents while waiting to be let into the classroom. Are the parents too tired to even bother as the child will be off for 2 hours in a matter of minutes? Or do they really not even bother at home either. This questions plagues me.

Just so you don't think, like a certain sister-in-law I have does (wink wink!) that I'm simply being a Nazi mom :0) Let me give you an example.

Paige was sitting on the floor trying as hard as a 4 year old could to get those huge winter boots off her feet. She was mostly done with boot number one, when out of no where "Boy" came flying at her, tackled her, smacked her head into the ground behind her then got up and claimed it was a hug, but then told another boy seconds later he meant to hurt her. Paige, tears in her eyes looked to me for help and I of course first look to his mother who saw the whole thing. She stared blankly at me, so I said " 'Boy' we don't knock people over like that, Paige got hurt" He could have cared less and went on to stomp on and knock over 3 other kids before his mother chimed in " 'Boy' remember to ask before hugging"

Hugging? What kind of family do you have? I understand for all intents and purposes that boys are usually a bit more rough then girls, but that doesn't mean you can fail to teach them manners and it's a scape goat. Paige was obviously a bit scared of this, rather small boy mind you because all in all, she holds her own quite well with her boy cousins who she very much enjoys rough housing with.

On top of that, the blatant not listening to simple directions "Please wait over there" being repeated 10 times while you watch the teachers aid try not to explode with anger because you know she would have handed out a time out by attempt 2, or the nastiness in which some kids speak to their parents....at 4! ALl of this totally blows my mind.

Paige tried that obnoxious attitude today with me after 2 kids we snottily talking to their parents then to each other, I mentioned I forgot to give her something this morning and Paige looked at me and said "Mom, I was not talking to you!" and shot me a look she shouldn't even know until she was 15....so I replied "We don't talk to our parents like that Paige, and we'll just skip that candy when we get home instead ok?"

She didn't even argue she sat quietly and said she was sorry. And a few moms across the way looked at me like "How'd you do that?" Was a bit rough because she was only following suit...maybe but I won't tolerate 2 things, back talk and direct and intended violence on another.

I'm in NO way saying my way is right, or the best by any means, I could be doing things all wrong for all I know. And maybe each mom and dad at this school is a little tough about laying down rules at home but doesn't want to seem rude in public...who knows (although sorry, I do highly doubt that...). All I do know is if my kid intentionally meant to hurt another by tackling them and smacking their head into the ground there would be a time out for sure with no question, certainly not a "That wasn't a very good decision now was it?" with a smile on my face.....if I were a kid that would be to me an opportunity to see how many more times I could get away with it before a punishment was laid out....

School isn't meant to raise your kids for you people, it's supposed to teach them the fundamentals of learning. You still have to do your job at home!

Ugh, you know I realized I'm not annoyed by other peoples kids....it's the parents....

When Ignorance is Bliss, Try a Little Logic.

I don't claim to be the smartest person in the world. I happen to know him, he lives in Denmark and is currently studying in Liverpool....and him I am not....:0) Sorry I realize that may only be funny and/or cute to a small group of people...

Anyway, like I was saying, I don't claim to be. I don't claim to know everything about everything, but I would like to think I know a little something about a lot of stuff. For instance, I know there isn't any risk to my unborn child if I have an ultrasound. I know this, based on logic. I can logically state that if there was a significant chance of it, my doctor and the millions of other doctors around the worlds wouldn't do hundreds of them a day. And because I have never once heard of a deformed baby being born and the cause being it's routine 20 week ultrasound.

Logic.

Why do I bring something like this up. Because I host a board of pregnant woman, and today one reminded me of this couple I met in birthing class 5 years ago, when I was pregnant with Paige. It wasn't her, per say that reminded me of them more of the whirling mind of mine that remembered this couple in a strange "8 Degrees of Kevin Bacon" kind of way.

This couple was the "Green" couple, and back then when green wasn't the new black...it was just annoying. She sat there sipping her wheat gluten shake while he tapped his obnoxiously clean penny loafers on the carpet. Blah. I remember joking with Paige's dad that they were probably all normal in public but that the scarf on her neck was covering up asphyxiation marks from weird sex fantasies.

I thought this until they asked the teacher a question, and pretty much staged a coup, yes....a coup about a typical medical device they would refuse to use. When we were touring the birthing center, we were shown the Uterian Contraction Monitor that they attach to your tummy to read contractions during labor. This couple started off slowly by asking questions about the radioactive waves that could harm the baby. WHAT!? There's no radio active waves!

The doctor showing us around assured them there was no harm possible to the baby with this contraption. They went on to state they would not use it in the hospital, nor ultra sounds or even the fetal doppler to detect a heart beat. All non evasive ways of determining the heath of the baby and when it's coming....things of that nature.

I think at this point the doctor was flabergasted and was left with only one thing to say, to which I wanted to applaud. He told them if they didn't want to use current, up-to-date and state of the art equipment for the birth of their child, they should seek out delivering at home with a doula or mid-wife because delivering at the hospital could only get "so low tech".

The couples response about floored me. They stated they didn't want to take the chance of delivering at home and there being a problem with the baby and it needing to go to the NICU. Apparently medical equipment can only harm the baby before it was born. And might I point out, had they had any of the routine things done like ultrasounds and heartbeat detection they would KNOW if there was a problem and they could have prepared for it....LOGIC!

Ignorance. It apparently can stem solely from not taking the 15 minutes to research something on that wonderful thing called the internet or asking a medical professional. Hear one thing, see it on the cover of a tabloid and WALL AH! It's the newest craze.

So after that story I ask you to PLEASE, for the sake of all things human when you hear something, research it before jumping on the bandwagon! And by research I mean, read opposing studies too, not just one...thats not research...that's called believing everything you read.

Honestly, I think that if I actually have to read one more hocus pocus study that the amount of rain fall in your area can be linked to Autism, or that an ultrasound can harm your baby, or that jumping up and down or frequent movement will give the unborn baby, Shaken Baby Syndrome - I might scream. Back it up with cold hard medical facts and studies and I'll believe it. Until then I will logically keep listening to my doctor, and trust in the medical profession as a whole. Hell, I didn't go to school for this. Why go if I'm not going to listen to them?

Pssst....Hey Dude.....

I had to get a picture of this, it cracked me up! While out at dinner at Old Chicago in Duluth Alex nd I saw this guy playing Big Buck Hunter, a hunting video game for those who don't know.

I guess someone forgot to tell him that he didn't need to wear camouflage, the deer can't see him because it's just a game...

And The Award For "Stupidity" Goes To....

I've never claimed to be the smartest person in the world, but I would like to think that I have an average amount of common sense. Enough so that I could properly function while getting ready for the day, and realize that there's really no point in grabbing the hot end of a curling iron unless you're just a total moron.

Hi. I'm a total moron!

Now I didn't do it on purpose. I wasn't trying some new age tactic of teaching Paige why you shouldn't grab hot things, although I think I scared her away from curling irons until she's at least 20. I was just under caffeinated and tired from the 4 day battle I have had with my raging hormones that I had forgotten I changed the normal position I have it in on the counter to save Paige from bumping into it while I did her hair for school pictures.

I blindly reached for it and...well you know that sound chicken makes when you first toss it on the skillet....yeah....that happened.

And it couldn't be Good Ol' Lefty, the hand I don't use for anything, at all, ever! No, it had to be my good friend Righty. Which made driving Paige to school interesting, but not nearly as interesting as having to teach my self how to...."clean up" after going to the bathroom.

Today is going to suck I think....but at least you all got a giggle out of it, and that it afterall what I'm here for.
